About Me
I am the Associate Dean (Student Life) and a Senior Lecturer in Design at The University of Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning. My work sits at the intersection of interaction design, human-computer interaction, community engagement, and smart urbanism, with a focus on co-design and the use of emerging technologies to support inclusive participation and collaborative decision-making. My research investigates innovative approaches to participation, including the representation of non-human perspectives within collaborative design and engagement processes.
I lead and contribute to research projects investigating how immersive technologies and AI-supported tools can support community engagement in contexts of crisis resilience and urban futures. This work investigates more inclusive, adaptive, and participatory approaches to engagement across community, government, and industry settings in Australia and internationally.
Alongside my academic work, I bring more than 15 years of professional experience as a consultant across community and infrastructure projects in local government, transport, water, telecommunications, and energy sectors. My consulting practice focuses on designing and facilitating engagement initiatives that support collaboration, participation, and strategic decision-making across diverse groups.
I am the co-chair of the annual Community Engagement Summit, which brings together practitioners and researchers from government, industry, and academia. I am also a founding member of the Urban Interfaces research group at The University of Sydney, where we investigate the role of emerging technologies in shaping urban experiences and future cities.
